Maximizing Chat-GPT’s Potential: A Guide to Its Hidden Labeling Feature

Reading Time: 4 minutes

I’ve recently started using Chat-GPT for various tasks at my company, and I’ve been so impressed by this tool that I find myself using it even outside of work hours. Chat-GPT has a lot of hidden potentials, and just the other day, I stumbled upon one of its many hidden features: Labeling.

It is a simple feature, it is the possibility to give a name to specific information and use it or refer to it later as long as you are in the same conversation you created the information.

Pretty much what happens when you provide a text and you want to use it as seed text but this time you give it a name.

To label something, write or paste the text in the chat enclosed between the quotes symbols. and add “I want to label this information as [File_label]. Confirm both the acquisition and labeling” – The request for a confirmation is not necessary, it’s just better to be safe than sorry.

The spaces between the words must be replaced by the “_” symbol. You could use the spaces but I found out that sometimes the labeling gets rejected.

To check the information write in the chat “Exhibit the exact content of [file label].”

From now on, in that conversation, you can refer to that file by its name and use it however you want. You can make Chat-GPT run some analysis on it or use the conversation as a repository. It’s up to you.

Merging multiple elements

If you are working with a huge amount of data and you want to combine them into a single labeled information, you can follow these steps:

Step 1: Label the first part of the information as “Part 1” and provide the details.

Step 2: Send the message containing “Part 1” to Chat-GPT.

Step 3: Label the second part of the information as “Part 2” and provide the details.

Step 4: Send the message containing “Part 2” to Chat-GPT.

Step 5: Repeat the above steps for all the parts of the information that you want to provide.

Step 6: Once you have sent all the messages, ask Chat-GPT to combine all the parts of the information.

Step 7: Chat-GPT will combine all the parts of the information and provide you with a single labeled output that includes all the information in the correct order.

For example, if you have six parts of the information, the output may look like this:

Product Information:

Part 1: Introduction to the Product

Part 2: Product Features

Part 3: Benefits of the Product

Part 4: Specifications of the Product

Part 5: Pricing Information

Part 6: Reviews of the Product

Update/change information

If you want to update a piece of information that you have previously labeled, you can follow these steps:

Step 1: Identify the specific piece of information that you want to update.

Step 2: Label the new information that you want to add with an updated label. For example, if the original label was “Label A,” you can label the new information as “Label A – Update.”

Step 3: Send the updated information to Chat-GPT.

Step 4: If the updated information is related to previously provided information, make sure to refer to the original label as well.

Step 5: Ask Chat-GPT to update the original labeled information with the new information.

Step 6: Chat-GPT will replace the old information with the new information under the updated label.

Step 7: Once the updated labeled information is ready, Chat-GPT will provide you with the final output.

For example, let’s say the original labeled information was:

Label A: Introduction to Product A

If you want to update the information with a new introduction, you can label the new information as:

Label A – Update: New Introduction to Product A

Then, you can send Chat-GPT the updated information and ask to update the original labeled information.

Chat-GPT will replace the old information with the new information under the updated label, and the final output may look like this:

Label A: New Introduction to Product A

Add information to an existing label

If you want to add something to labeled information instead of updating it, you can follow these steps:

Step 1: Identify the specific labeled information that you want to add to.

Step 2: Label the new information that you want to add with a new label that is related to the original label. For example, if the original label was “Label A,” you can label the new information as “Label A – Additional Information.”

Step 3: Send the new information to the chat.

Step 4: Ask Chat-GPT to add the new information to the original labeled information.

Step 5: Chat-GPT will add the new information to the original labeled information under the new label.

Step 6: Once the labeled information with additional information is ready, Chat-GPT will provide you with the final output.

For example, let’s say the original labeled information was:

Label A: Introduction to Product A

If you want to add some additional information to the product introduction, you can label the additional information as:

Label A – Additional Information: Product A is available in different colors.

Then, you can send Chat-GPT the additional information and ask to add it to the original labeled information.

Chat-GPT will add the new information to the original labeled information under the new label, and the final output may look like this:

Label A: Introduction to Product A

Label A – Additional Information: Product A is available in different colors.

Final thoughts

As I mentioned earlier, Chat-GPT’s labeling feature is simple, but it has the potential to be incredibly useful in a wide variety of cases. By giving specific pieces of information a name, you can easily organize and retrieve them later without having to search through long conversations.

Having all of your work in one place can save you a significant amount of time, especially if you work on multiple projects. Chat-GPT’s labeling feature makes it easy to keep track of important information and streamline your workflow
